The most magical part of this retreat is that your money goes towards not only your experience, your food, your accommodation, your meditation lessons and your transportationbut alsoof course into local employment and the community. At the moment we only accept retreat applications for experienced student for a minimum of 14 days. You may have read or heard about advanced meditation retreats, or retreats of several weeks to as long as three years. Week-long retreats offer periods of seated meditation, working meditation, ceremonies and chanting, silent meals and time for quiet reflection and individual practice. Lay residents join in the daily activities of meditation, working meditation, ceremonies, Dharma talks and discussions. These retreats, primarily for monks, include six or seven 40-minute meditation periods a day. This three month Lam Rim Retreat is an opportunity to meditate with leisure on the complete graduated stages of the pathto enlightenment and also to fulfilthe retreat requirement of the FPMT Basic Program. We do though, ask all of our participants to pay due respect to the monks privacy and the monastic environment. The monks will be able to speak and direct you in English. You'll be in the company of other beginners, and such matters as temple protocols or how to meditate will be explained. Throughout the year we offer Continuing Practice Retreats that focus on the fundamentals of Buddhism, meditation and contemporary practice. The majority (more than 90%) of public schools do not have access to computers. Lay residents also participate in our three-day Meditation Retreats. Serious practitioners following the Tibetan Tradition with retreat commitments (up to three month) are welcome.
